Meet the Coaches
Below are the details of the 11 skate coaches who coach at Riverside and work with the Club. If you require skate lessons please contact a coach directly and they will get back to you.
Chloe Gribble
Chloe is a Level 2 coach who has been part of the Riverside coaching team for 9 years. As a skater, she competed in 2 British Championships and performed in numerous ice shows at Riverside before going on to direct 4 successful shows herself. Chloe has coached skaters at all levels, from beginners to a British Champion, and she takes great pleasure in attending competitions with her pupils to support their growth and success.

Sophie Harding
Sophie is a Level 2 coach and teaches figure skating. She can also teach hockey skating drills, choreography, some ice dance/pairs/synchro. She specialises in figure performance and presentation.

Robert Proctor
Rob is a Level 2 coach and has been coaching for over 16 years. He has taught adult skaters who have competed in the British Adult Championships. He teaches free skating and ice dance to children and adults of all ages. He also has 15 years worth of show skating experience.

Sophia Streubel
Sophia is a Level 2 coach and teaches ice dance and free skating.
As a skater, she was Scottish pairs champion and solo ice dance champion. Sophia was a member of Team GB and competed with her partners in ISU Junior Grand Prixs and Youth Olympics. She was also Senior Silver Ice Dance national and international medalist and represented Great Britain and Germany in her career.
Sophia has also skated in Hot Ice Show and toured with Illusion on Ice.
Sophia now coaches all ages and levels of skaters and has skaters competing British Championships. She also specifies in choreography nationally and internationally.

Daniel Thomas
Daniel is a level 3 performance coach and has been an integral part of the coaching team here at Riverside for over 3 decades. As a skater he achieved many national medals and was British Pairs champion at every entry level and a senior ISU international and European team member.
As a coach Daniel has achieved multiple British champions/medallists at various levels in singles and pairs and ultimately many junior World and ISU Grand Prix events, qualified in pairs, singles and dance. Daniel has worked with many former Olympic skaters and coaches and has amassed a huge amount of experience over the years!

Paula Thomas
Paula is a level 2 performance coach with other 2 decades of coaching experience! She has taken various students to many different British Championships in singles and in pairs, ISU Junior Grand Prixs and Junior World Championship level (in pairs). Paula has directed many ice shows at Riverside and is a valued team member. Paula’s main passion is choreography and the technical side of ice skating.

Steven White
Steven has been skating since the age of 3 and is a multi national and international gold medalist. As well as his figure Skate background, he also plays ice hockey. Steven has been working at Riverside for 20 years and has been involved with many ice shows over the years in various capacities; skating as many main cast members, playing the role of host, director or more recently back stage manager. Steven has been coaching for the last 9 years, he loves coaching students from first timers through to competitions watching his students confidence increase as they achieve their goals growing as a skater each lesson. Outside of figure skating, Steven has participated as part of the coaching team for the Chelmsford Ice Hockey Academy. Steven has experience coaching all ages and abilities and is keen to get to know you whether you've got children as young as 2 or are someone in their 70s. Skilled in various aspects of skating he is happy to get stuck in coaching you with basic skating to get you around the ice with your friends, improving your hockey power skating or technical edge work, or wanting to take a leap into the world of tests and competitions
